IMG Citrus, a leading integrated Citrus grower and marketer, based in Vero Beach Florida, is looking for a business developer with proven success in developing relationships and building  programs with leading US and Canada food retailers. The company is experiencing fast growth through consolidation of Florida Citrus operations and the rapid development of its Citrus import programs. This is a unique entrepreneurial opportunity for a motivated individual to develop retail programs with strategically aligned distributors for both the FLORIDA and imported citrus lines of a well established Citrus company which is part of a diversified family agribusiness.

Located in Indian River County, IMG Citrus operates as one of Florida’s main distributors of fresh citrus. The company is vertically integrated - farming over 5000 acres in Florida, and operating a state of the art Packinghouse, and a 1,000 pallet refrigerated distribution center. Marketing and sales of Citrus domestically and globally is a core competency of the Company and is supported by an in-house sales/marketing team and Company own production of all Florida citrus varieties: grapefruit, oranges and tangerines. Another area of fast growth is the summer import program from the Southern Hemisphere allowing IMG Citrus to provide year round citrus to the most demanding customers in the USA and Canada.

JOB SUMMARY 

The Citrus Business Developer will join the Sales Team with the mission to support the rapid growth of the Company by growing established programs and developing new programs with leading food retailers in the USA and Canada for both Florida and imported Citrus.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES 

The Citrus Business Developer will:

  • Grow relationships with strategically aligned retailers in the USA and Canada

  • Negotiate sales and promotional programs for both Florida and imported citrus

  • Develop strategic alliances with key customers

  • Continuously analyze trends and statistics to ensure strategic alignment and market relevance

  • Coordinate with support teams (sales, logistics, Packing, imports, accounting, QC, marketing)

  • Promote Company image and develop Main Company brands.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor degree or higher

  • Sales or business development experience in the produce industry (citrus a plus, but not necessary).

  • Knowledge of imports a plus

  • Experience in building programs with main produce retailers in the USA and Canada, with good understanding of the bidding processes with retailers.

  • Available to travel in targeted market with some travel to sourcing countries

  • Ability to work collaboratively with team

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong relationship building and negotiation skills

  • Good analytical skills

  • Empathetic listener

  • Strategic thinker


The ideal candidate will have experience in working programs with leading food retailers in the US and Canada. Experience of produce. Knowledge of Citrus and imports a plus but not necessary.  Candidates must be able to work independently and be open to working collaboratively in teams.   It is preferred that the candidate work from our Vero Beach (FL) office, but not necessary.
