JOB SUMMARY

Assist team leader in completing all assignments for the day on time. Ensure that the crew is working
efficiently while maintaining good quality trees and shrubs. Perform manual and/or machine tasks associated with the cultivation and maintenance of container horticulture trees (1 to 7 gallons). Manual tasks for the growing of nursery stock will include some combination of the following:  tree & shrub maintenance, pruning, staking, cleaning, applying fertilizer, removing weeds and debris; and operation of hand tools and equipment.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Meet with supervisor in the morning before work begins to receive schedule for that day.

• Pick up tools the day ahead so the crew is ready to go first thing everyday.

• Ensure that all team members are working to the best of their ability through the day.

• Make sure all crew members have good,safe tool needed to do job at hand and report any concerns immediately

• Report any and all injuries to supervisor or the HR office (immediately).

• Notify any discipline problems to supervisor for attention.  Maintain a positive energetic work environment with good attitude within the group. .

• Communicate any problem that is noticed in the field (ex. damaged trees, loose ropes, trellis
  problems, washouts, etc).

• Assist in orienting and teaching new employees cherry lake procedures and practices.

• Supervise team member’s work for quality and quantity.  Correct and/or report any concerns to the Team Leader.

• Enforce safety standards and report negligence or abuse.

• Balance work by working closely with crew, keeping the pace of work and inspecting quality of
  Work.

• Always clean section at the end of the day (trash, bamboo, tie tape, buckets, ladders, rakes).

• Bamboo must be piled so it can clearly determine what bamboo needs to be removed.

• Make sure that your crew reaches the goal set by supervisor daily. This will help your crew
  productivity and allow you to work as a team.

• All other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior Crew Leader work experience in Tree Farm, Nursery or Green House setting. 
• Ability to read, write and have good communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to relate well with a variety of people: vendors, community, and employees.
• Bilingual (English & Spanish) a plus. 

REQUIRED LICENSES/HOURS OF WORK

• Valid Driver’s License State of Florida – Class E and clean MVR
• 40 + hours per work week. May be required to work additional hours during peak times.
