JOB SUMMARY

Transports and delivers ornamental goods or materials.  Assists with loading and unloading of truck. Maintains government required logs.  Possesses knowledge of weight laws, safety regulations, and other federal regulations.  Holds a valid CDL Class A license and has a minimum of five years over-the-road and/or intrastate experience.  Check quantities of goods received and obtain proper signature for deliveries. Determine own routing or follow prescribed schedule.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Make deliveries and pick-ups of ornamental materials to and from farm.

  • Check or assist in the loading or unloading of trucks.

  • Operates under specific detailed instructions; refers changes in schedule or problems to supervisor or Shipping Coordinator.

  • Check quantities of goods received and obtain proper signature for deliveries.

  • Customer service, clarifying any customer complaints.

  • Operation of Diesel and Gasoline semi-trucks.

  • Sitting and driving for extended periods of time.

  • Fine hand manipulation.

  • Employee may need to lift, carry, load and unload various objects, materials and products weighing up to 60 lbs.

  • Exposure to outdoor climate including extreme heat and/or cold conditions.

  • Proper use of eye and ear protection equipment (if required)

  • All other driver duties assigned.  


QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School graduate preferred, but not required.

  • Minimum of five or more years of applied experience in over-the-road experience.

  • Successful background in truck driving and deliveries

  • Clean MVR record.

  • Organizational and planning skills. Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.

  • Must be able to work effectively under time constraints and exercise good judgment under pressure.

  • Good logic and analytical skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of teams and customers.

  • Ability to read, write and follow directions.

  • Ability to verbally communicate details and directions and adhere to all safety regulations.

  • Flexible Schedule.

 

REQUIRED LICENSES / HOURS OF WORK 

Valid CDL Class A driver’s license and current Medical Examination Certificate. Must be able to be approved by our Insurance Carrier.
Monday – Friday, hours varied depending on organizational need.  Additional hours including weekends may be necessary as Shipping needs dictate.
