JOB SUMMARY


The Irrigation Maintenance Repair will repair, maintain and evaluate tree farm’s irrigation system to assure proper water flow to each section.  Monitor and assist in the maintenance of  a Well  pumps , filters, and Electronic valves according to the irrigation schedules.  Perform maintenance and repair of the irrigation systems, main water lines, micro jets, drippers, risers and power units.  

This is a full-time year round permanent position to replace vacant position.

 

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide irrigation services according to daily schedule.

  • Observe/record pump and irrigation control system to ensure adequate water supply is being delivered. (Pressure  gauges,, flow meters, Check valves, air relief valves)

  • Maintain filter systems and injection pumps

  • Repair above and below  ground PVC piping.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on all pumps and power units.

  • Keep work area and equipment /supplies clean and in good working order

  • Adhere and implement all safety requirements and regulations

  • Maintain irrigation drippers to assure proper spray pattern in designated area.

  • Repair, or replace poly tube, poly lines, and drippers if not in working order.

  • Proactively scout sections periodically to assure that no dry downs are occurring due to problems with irrigation abnormalities.

  • Follow up on recently planted sections to accommodate for special water needs.

  • Keep Team Leader informed of issues and challenges.

  • Conduct periodic flushing of sections to clean poly tubes of debris capable of clogging the drippers.

  • Operate an ATV. Assure that equipment issued such as the ATV is in proper working order and it receives its maintenance on schedule. Perform daily preventative maintenance checks on ATV.

  • Support other water checkers as needed or as directed.

  • Work on a task list that may include (Soil Probing, assisting other departments,  picking up trash…etc) as determined by Supervisor/Team Leader.

  • Follow all CLTF safety rules and regulations.

  • All other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • One or more years of prior experience in irrigation management or repair (piping).

  • Prior experience in the nursery or landscape field with plant knowledge is a plus.

  • Dependable and hardworking.

  • Basic knowledge of irrigation clocks and electronic valves for troubleshooting purposes.  

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

  • Able to work in ever changing weather conditions

  • Physical Demands: work is done outdoors in all kinds of weather. The work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, lifting, pulling and pushing. Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; crouch; stoop or kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Work Site Conditions:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather (heat or cold), and moving mechanical equipment.

 

REQUIRED LICENSES/HOURS OF WORK

Valid Driver's License and clean MVR preferred. ​Hours: Monday - Sunday, 40+ hrs per work week, additional hours may be required depending on organizational needs.  Weekend repairs may be needed and required.
