Payroll Clerk - Accounting Clerk
JOB SUMMARY

The Payroll Clerk will process bi-weekly payroll ensuring the timely and accurate computation and payment of earnings. Reviews, corrects, verifies, and transmits payroll information in the payroll system. Maintains records with accrual information related to vacation, basic, and supplemental time, employee accounts receivables, and all payroll related files. Sorts and distributes payroll checks to supervisors and processes manual checks when required. Enters employee data information in the system and maintains employee files. Prepare journal entries for project job costing. Answers calls/correspondence related to payroll checks. Reports bi-weekly wage and labor statistics. Ensures that all court orders for garnishments are communicated to employees and information is relayed to the payroll system.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Process bi-weekly payroll ensuring the timely and accurate computation and payment of earnings for multi-employer.
- Review the time and attendance information for completeness and accuracy.
- Processing of recognition rewards such as bonus and incentives.
- Compile payroll reports for internal purposes. Maintain records of all payroll transactions, tax filings and interactions with employees and managers.
- Perform and oversee reconciliations of various payroll related GL accounts and ensure the timely resolution of reconciling items.
- Prepare, review and reconcile required bi-weekly, monthly and annual reports.
- Prepare journal entries for project job costing.
- Prepare month-end reconciliation reports.
- Assist with other projects as needed: training sessions, audits, implementation of new tools, etc.
- Review ADP reports to file payroll quarterly taxes
- Update state and local unemployment taxes each year
- Review and prepare W2 Statements
- All other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of related work experience in processing payroll for 300+ employees desired
- Experience in the ADP Workforce/Time & Attendance preferred
- High School/GED equivalent required
- Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee information
- Must be able to communicate effectively by phone, in person and in writing with peers and various levels of management within the company and with agencies
- Working knowledge of Accounting and accruals
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software and Google products
- Strong organization skills and detailed oriented
- Work well in a team environment
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
WORK HOURS & ENVIRONMENT
This is a full-time position. Monday through Friday, start and end times vary depending on organizational needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones. Walking and standing for short periods of time. Occasional bending, lifting and carrying of objects. May work in an outdoor setting as required.
