JOB SUMMARY 

This is an exciting opportunity to join an industry leader that is positioned to take on substantial growth in the coming years. The Accounting Department of Cherrylake services operations in agriculture, construction and manufacturing with an employee base of over 500 comprising year-round and seasonal staff. The Accounting Leader will work in a highly collaborative manner in conjunction with the Senior Accounting Leader to implement the most effective and strategic Accounting policies and programs.  

The Accounting Leader will manage the day to day accounting operations including leading a team of administrative personnel, supporting operations and using good judgment and discretion in applying accounting principles and other functions of accounting services. Trains and develops an accounting team to ensure and maintain the required level of professional competence. Leverage technology to develop control reports; allow for more efficiencies and better accuracy. Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service. Ability to effectively prioritize using good time management and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ensure revenue and expenses are correctly posted to the GL. Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data. Collaborate with the Senior Accounting Leader to continuously improve the accounting processes to make the department and organization lean and efficient.  


JOB FUNCTIONS 

Essential Duties

  • Oversee daily accounting activities including AP, AR, Payroll and General Ledger.
  • Supervise, train and mentor Accounting Clerks.
  • Manage all accounting aspects of the fixed asset process.
  • Perform month-end closing process for Cherrylake and IMGE including cost allocations.
  • Prepare month-end financial reports for management’s review.
  • Review and approve bi-weekly payroll prepared by the Accounting Clerk.
  • Review and ensure timeliness and accuracy of journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, commission calculations, and sales tax submissions.
  • Manage and analyze GL accounts.  Identify coding issues and work with departments to correct and resolve.
  • Review and ensure all NTO’s, liens and lien releases are filed timely and appropriately in accordance with Florida lien laws.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Accounting Leader and Director of Sales to manage credit risk of new and existing customers.
  • Establish accounting policies and procedures, aligned with company’s targets
  • Prepare for and assist in year-end financial audit.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • 3+ years of related experience required.
  • Strategic thinker, highly collaborative, and focused on continual process improvement
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. 
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with all levels of the organization and non-accounting professionals.


WORK HOURS & ENVIRONMENT

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.
