JOB SUMMARY 

Lead and inspire the Large Container Tree Maintenance crews by directing, training, and supporting their daily activities. Ensure work orders are completed efficiently and to high-quality standards by monitoring production goals and performance metrics. Champion safety by reinforcing proper PPE use and safe work practices at all times. Proactively plan and prepare for upcoming workloads, making sure crews have the tools, materials, and guidance needed to succeed. As a Crew Leader, you’ll work hands-on alongside your team while also stepping back to evaluate quality, safety, and efficiency. This role requires the ability to perform—and teach—all responsibilities, while setting the standard for excellence in horticultural production and landscape maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Receive daily work assignments and schedule from the Team Leader; plan and organize crew workflow to stay on track.
  • Lead and supervise team members, ensuring quality, productivity, and adherence to safety protocols throughout the day.
  • Record required data, track daily tree counts, and enter information into the Task On Time (TOT) system.
  • Maintain equipment and tools, reporting mechanical, safety, or inventory issues promptly; ensure proper return of tools at the end of the day.
  • Monitor work areas for safety and quality, addressing hazards, damaged trees, or field issues and reporting them as needed.
  • Train, orient, and support new employees in company procedures and best practices.
  • Encourage teamwork, address performance or discipline concerns, and foster a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.
  • Ensure sections are cleaned daily and materials (bamboo, tape, buckets, etc.) are organized for removal or reuse.
  • Support company goals by meeting production targets and upholding Cherrylake’s standards of quality and service.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 1 year of prior tree farm, nursery, greenhouse experience or related field. 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Perform simple numerical operations such as counting.
  • Effectively communicate and follow directions.
  • Tree species identification.
  • Responsible, capable of assigning duties and training or demonstrating methods to efficiently accomplish work in a safe manner.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to write and operate small hand tools and farm equipment
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record a plus.

HOURS OF WORK 

This is a full-time core position. Monday through Saturday, 40+ hours per work week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather (heat or cold), and moving mechanical equipment.
