Community Water Manager — Sunbridge

JOB SUMMARY

Cherrylake is seeking a Community Water Manager to lead the water conservation and community engagement program at Sunbridge, one of Florida’s most significant ecological community design initiatives. This role is the primary point of contact between Cherrylake and the Sunbridge community working daily with homeowners, homebuilders, landscape managers, and institutional partners to advance the community’s water conservation, ecological landscape, and community engagement objectives.

The Sunbridge Community Landscape Standards establish native plants, water efficiency, and ecological stewardship as the standard for residential landscaping in the community. Cherrylake serves as the strategic partner to Tavistock Development, Toho Water Authority, and the Sunbridge Stewardship District in implementing and advancing this standard. The Community Water Manager is the organizational leader of that effort on the ground.

The field operations side of the Sunbridge program crew management, scheduling, contractor coordination, and quality execution is managed by the Account Manager. The Community Water Manager focuses on the program dimensions: water stewardship and data, community engagement, builder compliance, and homeowner landscape consultations and enhancements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Water Stewardship + Data Analysis — 40%

  • Monitor community water consumption data from Toho Water Authority. Identify high water users, track performance against established water budgets, and coordinate targeted interventions to reduce water use in collaboration with Dr. Pierce Jones and the Florida Headwaters Foundation.

  • Conduct 30-minute water conservation consultations with high water users. Review individual consumption data, adjust irrigation run times, identify system inefficiencies, and provide actionable recommendations.

  • Oversee irrigation systems on all Cherrylake-maintained properties at Sunbridge — including scheduled irrigation checks, adjustments, repairs, and reporting. Basic irrigation knowledge required; advanced training provided.

  • Participate in quarterly water management reporting meeting, in which community water dashboards are reviewed, over-budget parcels are identified, and improvement recommendations are discussed.

  • Collaborate with Florida Headwaters Foundation to support the design and ongoing management of the community water dashboard and water management tools. Coordinate automated outreach to high water users through the community notification system.

Builder Inspections + Landscape Standards Compliance — 20%

  • Conduct landscape turnover inspections on new homes prior to final acceptance, reviewing plant selection, spacing, irrigation installation, and compliance with the Sunbridge Community Landscape Standards. Document findings and communicate them to builders and their landscapers in a clear and professional manner.

  • Provide landscape design training to homebuilders and their selected landscapers upon request, based on the Weslyn Park Design Patterns and the approved community plant palette.

  • Review landscape design plans submitted by homebuilders for compliance with the Sunbridge Community Landscape Standards.

  • Collaborate with community stakeholders to update and clarify the SCLS as needed, ensuring standards remain practical, achievable, and ecologically sound.

Homeowner Consultations + Enhancement Sales — 20%

  • Provide 30-minute landscape consultations to homeowners seeking to modify or enhance their existing landscape. Apply the zone-based design protocol and community plant palette with emphasis on native, cold-hardy selections.

  • Design landscape enhancements for homeowners using Property Intel and Aspire, from initial concept through proposal delivery. Prioritize native and cold-hardy plant selections appropriate to the Sunbridge community standards.

  • Manage the enhancement sales pipeline and coordinate proposal-to-installation workflow in collaboration with the Account Manager and field team.

Community Engagement + Programming — 20%

  • Collaborate with the Headwaters Foundation Community Naturalist to design and facilitate quarterly community events, including plant sales, butterfly walks, educational workshops, and landscape-focused programs.

  • Host a quarterly town hall meeting for residents to ask questions, share observations, and address concerns regarding Sunbridge landscapes.

  • Produce regular content for social media and community newsletter such as community water dashboard highlights, plant of the month, pro-gardening tips, water conservation best practices, and upcoming events.

  • Represent Cherrylake in stakeholder communications and planning sessions with Tavistock, Toho, the Stewardship District, UF, and Headwaters Foundation.

  • Build ongoing relationships with Weslyn Park homeowners and community members as a trusted resource for landscape and water stewardship guidance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. This role involves regular presentations to HOA boards, town hall facilitation, one-on-one homeowner consultations, monthly newsletter production, and coordination across multiple institutional partners.
  • Analytical capability and comfort working with data. The water stewardship dimension of this role requires the ability to read water consumption data, identify patterns, and translate findings into practical recommendations for homeowners and landscape managers.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently. The Community Water Manager manages a broad and varied workload across multiple stakeholders with limited direct supervision.
  • Comfort in a hybrid field and desk environment. The role includes outdoor property inspections, homeowner consultations, and community events as well as desk-based data analysis, writing, and proposal preparation.
  • Proficiency with standard technology tools including AI, email, data dashboards, and spreadsheets. Willingness to learn Aspire and Property Intel landscape management platforms.
  • Alignment with Cherrylake’s mission to advance living landscapes, water stewardship, and ecological outcomes in residential communities. Candidates with a genuine interest in environmental stewardship, landscape, or water conservation are strongly preferred.

Preferred

  • Background in landscape design, horticulture, environmental science, conservation, or a related field
  • Familiarity with Florida native plants and water-efficient landscape practices
  • Basic irrigation system knowledge (training provided for qualified candidates)
  • Experience in community outreach, environmental education, or program coordination
  • Experience with utility data analysis, water budgeting, or conservation program implementation
  • Experience in landscape inspection, quality review, or compliance documentation
  • Spanish language proficiency a plus
