Resort Gardner Landscaping Team Member

JOB SUMMARY 

Provide front line labor for our Resort Landscape Maintenance Team. All team members will be responsible for proper care and detailed maintenance of the landscape material on the property assigned to them. This will be a direct report position that will have different work hours and days based on the needs of the resort and Cherrylake to accomplish these tasks.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Properly trimming and removing plant debris in a professional manner
  • Installing landscape plants at proper depths with correct plant orientation
  • Installing mulch to proper depth and cleaning up afterwards
  • Reporting irrigation damage so repairs can be made as needed
  • Report any dry or over watered areas so adjustments can be made to system
  • Learning to identify insect problems and reporting to foreman to have corrected
  • Safely work along roadways and resort pathways around guest with tools and carts
  • Always present yourself in a professional manner when around or speaking with guest
  • Use the proper tool for the job or task that you have been given
  • Remove any trash or other items that shouldn’t be in the landscape

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Ability to learn and identify plant species (trees, palms, shrubs, grasses, wildflowers, and groundcover) and understand their seasonal cycles, correct pruning methods, and water needs.
  • Experience in landscape operations.
  • Effective at collaborating and learning from others.
  • Ability to carry out instructions to complete projects, and seek guidance from a member of leadership when needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to learn and perform landscape construction/installation techniques.
  • Ability to learn how to safely and proficiently operate small and large equipment with proper training.
  • Ability to identify safety issues and report quickly to foreman.
  • Ability to grow in position with continual learning of plants, and development of skills in the technical areas of the job.

HOURS OF WORK 

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work will be Monday thru Friday (5:30 am to 2:00 pm) with rotating weekend duty on Saturday and Sundays (5:30 am to 9:30 am), 40 hours per work week, occasional overtime may be required. Occasional night work may be required as job duties demand.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather (heat or cold), and moving mechanical equipment. In addition, job sites are located on both residential and commercial property. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to effectively use small hand tools, equipment.  Requires sitting, standing, bending and walking for long periods of time during the day and night. Repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs.
