Product Selection Specialist
 

JOB SUMMARY 

The Product Selection Specialist is responsible for the selection and tagging of plants for customer orders to meet customer expectations within the order fulfillment process and timeline.  The Product Selection Specialist also plays a critical role in updating the inventory database with current specifications and promoting the inventory to the Sales team.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Update and maintain specifications and photographs of crops available for sale
  • Quality Control and tag products on order to meet customer expectations
  • Communicate quality concerns to Team Leader and/or Sales team
  • Communicate inventory inaccuracies to Accounting to initiate lot count
  • Input detailed and concise allocation notes to communicate to pulling team
  • Tag and allocate orders using principles of First In First Out (FIFO)
  • Recommend to Team Leader crops to be released, discounted or dumped
  • Promote inventory to Sales team to increase awareness movement
  • Perform regular tag audits to determine if product tags are void or need to ship
  • Accompany customers tagging on farm
  • Perform cycle and lot counts as needed

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School Graduate with the ability to read, write and perform numerical calculations.
  • One or more years of working experience in the area of horticulture, agribusiness, landscaping or nursery production. Tree farm experience is preferred.
  • Experience to learn topics related to quality control, quality improvement, or quality assurance is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to learn tree identification by type, species, specification and sizes required.
  • Ability to understand customer needs with a high degree of enthusiasm for customer service.
  • Ability to plan and organize work according to customer orders.  Able to prioritize and work within deadlines.
  • Superior communication skills, able to effectively communicate with a wide variety of departments in a professional manner.
  • Computer skills using one or more spreadsheets and order-processing software application programs.

HOURS OF WORK / WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a full-time position. Monday through Friday, start and end times vary depending on organizational needs. May be required to work overtime during peak times.

Physical Demands 

  • Outside work requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, ascending stairs and ramps for long periods of time. 
  • Intermittent daily driving in off road conditions is required.
  • Operation of a computer workstation.  Fine hand manipulation and dexterity.

Job Site Conditions 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather (heat or cold), pollen and dust.
