JOB SUMMARY 

Grow and maintain relationships with commercial accounts in assigned territory in order to achieve and exceed territory sales goals, promote targeted products and move inventory on time. Products include nursery grown trees, palms, and shrubs produced by Cherrylake as well as materials sourced from other producers.  Responsibilities include prospecting, customer qualification, customer acquisition, relationship management, order taking, order entry, order management, order fulfillment, customer service, product promotions.  This is a dynamic and exciting sales opportunity which provides a motivated individual with an excellent opportunity for career growth and uncapped earning potential with the leading sales organization in the horticulture industry.

This position may be based in Groveland at the main Cherrylake location or based from within the sales territory including, but not limited to Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina or Georgia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Answer all sales calls and make all necessary contacts (phone calls, e-mails, customer visits) to generate the maximum amount of sales from current customers and all other potential targeted customers in the territory. 

  • Promote Cherrylake product lines and promotions.

  • Sell Cherrylake value-added differentiation, close the deal and follow-up on the project until completion. 

  • Develop long-term partnerships with the major players in territory.

  • Prepare all sales orders and work with support departments to ensure excellent customer service.

  • Follow-up on all sales orders in terms of product availability, customer's credit status, order scheduling, truck routing, order delivery and customer satisfaction.

  • Stay aware of inventory movement priorities and proactively sell these items throughout the customer base.

  • Prepare and send flyers or mailings to selected groups of customers in reference to product availability and specific promotions.

  • Assess quality requirements from customers, communicate to product selectors and make sure these requirements are met or notify customers of alternatives.

  • Maintain a database with accurate and up-to-date information on all customers and other players in the territory market.

  • Prioritize and answer all selected bids from current and potential customers.

  • Track and follow up on all major landscape projects within territory.

  • Track customer aging and support accounts receivable collections as needed..

  • All other duties assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s level college graduate with emphasis in horticulture, agribusiness, communication, marketing, public relations, business or other related area.

  • Previous sales in a nursery, agricultural services or products, horticulture or landscaping business is helpful but not required.

  • Passion for the green good industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to service customers and close sales, using a variety of fundamental sales techniques.

  • Customer-oriented with a high degree of enthusiasm, aggressiveness and resilience.

  • Ability to plan and organize work according to overall sales strategy and priorities.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of customers and understand their buying habits and specific needs and requirements. 

  • Ability to influence sales through negotiation and creative sales strategy.

  • Creative, able to troubleshoot and find innovative solutions for the customer. 

  • Goal and service-oriented. Detail-oriented. Flexible and adaptable to change. Strong work ethics. Excellent team player.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in multiple software applications, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Windows, M-S preferred. Spreadsheet and some graphic software application desired.

  • Professional appearance with ability to represent CL at marketing and promotional events.

WORK HOURS & ENVIRONMENT 

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40+ hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones. Occasional bending, lifting and carrying of objects not to exceed 20 lbs. Occasional exposure to the outdoors.
