Shifting Prep Laborer

JOB SUMMARY 

Workers will prepare sections and tree spaces ahead of the planting/shifting team and to ensure each space has a tree holding system and irrigation that is fully functional and ready to receive a new tree.
 

JOB DUTIES

• Maintain the high quality of section preparation according to CL standards.

• Consolidate trees in a section to open space for new shift.

• Dump any trees of bad quality or damage.

• Install or repair post and cable trellis system before new shift.

• Installation and repair of irrigation lines and emitters for new plantings or consolidated plant material.

• Assemble specialty tree containers in the field for new trees.

• Clean up area after finishing a section preparation.

• Help crew leader get tools or materials that are needed for the day.

• Always be on time and ready to take on assignments for the day.   

• Receive and accept work assignments from your crew leader.

• Lifting and or moving products and objects up to 50 lbs

• Safety is priority.  Think safety first.

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Requires a minimum of 3+ months of prior experience working in a nursery, tree farm, agriculture or related field. 

• Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.

• Valid Driver's License with clean MVR a plus

HOURS OF WORK & WORK ENVIRONMENT 

• Monday through  Saturday, start and end times vary depending on organizational needs. May be required to work additional hours during peak times or as needed.

• Work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, lifting, and shoveling.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather (heat or cold), and moving mechanical equipment.
