Loading Crew Member
JOB SUMMARY
Operate earth moving equipment to load and unload plant materials at Loading & Curbside staging areas. Gather products selected for shipment by identifying the proper tagging. Pulls product from farm and outsourcing sections, loads materials onto trucks/trailers, stages products, builds holders and tarps shipments. Verifying that all materials are safely loaded and secured before they leave the loading area for both interstate and intrastate deliveries. Stage and load trucks and trailers as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Selection and loading of materials and doing so in a timely safe fashion.
- Secure all loads properly for transportation for both intrastate and interstate delivery.
- Receiving and unloading purchased stock in a timely fashion.
- Ensure that all trees and green goods materials are properly secured before departing the loading/shipping area. Conduct safety inspection of the trailer before departing the loading/shipping area.
- Operate earth moving equipment for loading and unloading of plant material in a safe and efficient manner.
- Help pull orders.
- Assure accurate counts being loaded for deliveries
- Staging of products and building shipping holders from wood.
- Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Assist in other plant material maintenance activities as needed to maintain nursery stock to meet quality standards.
- Job requires continuous lifting and carrying of objects up to 60lbs.
- Work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, lifting, and shoveling.
- Present a proper and professional image to customers.
- Follow safety guidelines.
- Always be on time and ready to take on assignments for the day.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires a minimum of 1+ months of prior experience working in a nursery or tree farm, in cultivation/harvesting and/or installation of commercial plant material, handling both manual and machine tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities.
- Experience with the operation of earth-moving equipment.
- Plant knowledge and identification is a plus.
- Knowledge of agricultural equipment is a plus.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
REQUIRED LICENSES / HOURS OF WORK
Physical Demands
- Work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, lifting, sitting and walking.
- Able to sit, stand, bend and walk for long periods of time.
- Times when regular lifting and/or movement of product up to 75 pounds is required. Operation of heavy farm equipment machinery.
Work Hours: Sunday through Thursday, start time at 2:00 pm and end times vary depending on organizational needs. May be required to work additional hours/days during peak times or as needed.
