Mechanic - Shop Technician

JOB SUMMARY 

The Shop Technician will repair, install, adjust, diagnose and/or overhaul farm machinery and equipment.  Reconditions and replaces parts such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves and bushings. Disassemble and overhaul transmissions, clutches, rear ends and other assemblies.  Replaces worn or broken parts, grind valves, adjust or replace brakes, tighten body bolts and align wheels. Diagnostics, disassembles engines and examines parts for defects and excessive wear, will direct difficult discrepancies to Fleet Manager.  Some welding and fabrication.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Repair, install, adjust, diagnose and/or overhaul farm machinery and equipment.

  • Recondition and replace parts such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves and bushings.

  • Diagnostics, disassembles engines and examines parts for defects and excessive wear.

  • Perform some welding on automobiles or truck assemblies and body.

  • Perform routine maintenance on all company equipment used (vehicles, mules, etc…)

  • Adjust or replace brakes, tighten body bolts and align wheels.

  • Lubricate vehicles and perform other duties in connection with maintenance and operation of motor vehicles.

  • Inspect and maintain semi truck trailers.

  • Clean, organize, stock and maintain parts in shop and work areas.

  • Coordinate rental equipment repairs with distributors.

  • Perform air conditioning diagnosis.

  • Modify and fabricate farm machinery and equipment.

  • Ability to operate industrial equipment and lift 50 lbs.

  • Able record repair activities through a computer program    

  • All other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent. 

  • Vocational or Post High School Degree in Mechanics preferred, but not required.

  • ASE certification in related fields highly preferred

  • Prior experience working on DOT trailers and trucks

  • 3 - 5 years of senior mechanic experience is a must.

  • Working knowledge of industrial / construction / farm equipment.

  • Working knowledge of automobile repairs.

  • Organizational skills and quality assurance a must.

  • Ability to plan and organize work according to Fleet Manager orders.  

  • Able to prioritize and work within deadlines.

  • Ability to read and follow directions.

  • Familiar with Gmail & experience using a work order system; a plus. 

  • Valid Class A Driver's License with clean MVR.

  • ASE certified

Valid Class A Driver's License with clean MVR.
 

WORK HOURS

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
