Product Selection Specialist
 

JOB SUMMARY 

The Product Selection Specialist (PSS) will be highly organized, computer literate, demonstrate self-initiative, take pride in quality assurance and have a high degree of enthusiasm for customer service. Must have working knowledge or the ability to learn tree identification by type, species, specification and size requirements. The position is responsible for the tagging and selection of trees for customer orders and verifying the orders are processed and tagged appropriately and accurately. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Receives product tagging requests from the sales team.

  • Constant communication with sales regarding any quality issues.

  • Take customers from time to time out to tree sections.

  • Remove old tags as directed by the Product Selection Team Leader or Logistics Manager.

  • Examine each tree tagged for shipment to ensure correct shipping date, customer identification and tree specification.

  • Initiate work orders to remove sold tagged trees on canceled or returned orders.

  • Inspect all trees on loading docks and staging areas and communicate directly with the Loading Supervisor during this process to assess accuracy of tree puller duties.

  • Inspect, examine and return trees that do not meet specification according to customer order.

  • Reconcile reports to systematic crop status reviews.

  • All other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School Graduate with the ability to read, write and perform numerical calculations.
  • One or more years of working experience in the area of horticulture, agribusiness, landscaping or nursery production. Tree farm experience is preferred.
  • Experience to learn topics related to quality control, quality improvement, or quality assurance is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to learn tree identification by type, species, specification and sizes required.
  • Ability to understand customer needs with a high degree of enthusiasm for customer service.
  • Ability to plan and organize work according to customer orders.  Able to prioritize and work within deadlines.
  • Superior communication skills, able to effectively communicate with a wide variety of departments in a professional manner.
  • Computer skills using one or more spreadsheets and order-processing software application programs.

Physical Demands 

  • Outside work requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, ascending stairs and ramps for long periods of time. 
  • Intermittent daily driving in off road conditions is required.
  • Operation of a computer workstation.  Fine hand manipulation and dexterity.

Job Site Conditions 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather (heat or cold), pollen and dust.

REQUIRED LICENSES / HOURS OF WORK 

Monday through Friday, start and end times vary depending on organizational needs. May be required to work overtime during peak times.
